The severity of psychological stressors on the client when he is admitted to the program will generally be severe to extreme. His global functioning may be severely limited. It is the goal of the Compass Rose treatment team to reduce maladaptive and psychotic behaviors. Clinical Psychological disorders considered for admissions may include, but are not limited to the following: Mood Disorders; Anxiety Disorders; Mental Disorders due to a General Medical Condition; mild Psychotic Disorders; Impulse Control Disorders; Adjustment Disorders; disorders with childhood onset: ADD, ADHD, Tic Disorders; mild mental Retardation; and certain Personality and Neurological Disorders.

Programs at Compass Rose are designed to promote the personal development, growth and achievement of each client. The ultimate goal of our therapeutic program is to increase the level of self-esteem of the client, thus increasing his social functioning and his ability to have healthier relationships and interactions. This is pursued through creating a foundation of self-respect. The tools and interventions we utilize to achieve these goals include individual therapy; group therapy; a cognitive based life skill (relationship skills) class; a behavioral program to include a level and point system, as well as client specific target areas; consultation with a Psychiatrist and Psychologists as necessary.

Since our primary objective is family reunification, the family is a crucial component of our treatment team. This coalition is ideally achieved through the family’s commitment to our process. Family therapy is encouraged whenever possible, outside individual therapy for family member(s) may be required or helpful depending on the family circumstances with conjoint sessions, as well as overall program support.

Our program also promotes positive reinforcements, natural rewards and consequences. Some of our behavioral incentives include special high level outings; privileges based on level; allowance based on level; extra work/money making opportunities based on level; off ground family visits and home passes based on level.
